It’s been quite a few months since we’ve gotten anything concrete from khara regarding Evangelion: 3.0+1.0’s production, most of what we’ve seen in recent months has been rather cryptic, almost literally smoke and mirrors. However, on May 22nd, khara posted a call to it’s corporate site for 3DCG, VFX, and 2D animation staff to start on June 30th at khara’s Tokyo offices.
This is only (to the best of my knowledge) the second time khara has issued such a call, the last time being on April 15th, 2017. This could mean that production is entering an intensive phase of production, and that Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 may be completed at some point in the near future. It’s really hard to say, but it’s encouraging news, as it certainly means that production is ramping up.
For a recap of news so far, I’m maintaining a status log here.
