Just as a note to anyone who might be viewing this site frequently who might have noticed that I haven’t updated in almost two weeks, I’d just like to let you know that I’m not losing steam on Eva Monkey. I had a hellishly busy work week, 8 shifts/40 hours over 5 days. And I’ve needed some time to relax since then. I’ve been working on a web design portfolio as I may be getting some paid commisions soon.
But on to whats going on at Eva Monkey! I’ve got a panel at Otakon this year, (it will be recorded, I’ll see if offering it will be feasible) as well as a possible interview with John Ledford and/or Matt Greenfield of ADV, as well as an interview for an amateur documentary (again will be offered if its feasible).
I’ve obtained permission to host a couple of essays on Eva Monkey (which previously were just links) so thats cool, and I’ll be contacting more people shortly. I’ve got the Red Cross Book on the site, but I’ll be formatting it in more properly, and organizing the content properly for the Books section and Glossaries section. I’m going to try and meet with Viz representatives at Otakon, and see if I can get copies of Anno’s live action films prior to their release, so that I can review and promote them to the Eva community.
I’m typing up the Secrets of Evangelion Dossier section in the Eva Manga, it has some very insightful information that will be of interest to hardcore Eva fans.
I picked up the July issue of NewType USA, and its got a huge spread of content about Eva and Gainax, and Anno. Its awesome, check it out. As well as AnimePlay Magazine. Its a brand new magazine that features both printed content, as well as a DVD with all kinds of neat stuff. This month’s issue features footage of a seminar of sorts in which Hideaki Anno teaches a lesson about anime. Its a bit hard to find, as it is a new magazine (I couldn’t find it myself), but from what I’ve been told, its a Anno fanboy’s dream.
Finally, I just want to remind you that Volume 7 of the Eva manga is out, and its very good. And the final DVD of Furi Kuri (FLCL) is being released by SynchPoint this month, so pick it up, and enjoy.
I intend to start doing updates weekly, rather than daily. So instead of seeing a new thing each day, you’ll see a bunch of new stuff each monday. So, I’ll have a bunch of cool stuff for you next monday. Stay tuned.
