Evangelion and Horse Racing fans rejoice!

Either we’re beginning to see the full force of the blitzkrieg of promotion for Evangelion 3.0, or there’s some huge cross section of Evangelion and Horse Racing fans in Japan that I’m completely unaware of. At any rate, there are two ads that involve this weird Eva Unit-01/Horse hybrid thing called “Eva-Impact”, whose origin is kind of ridiculous:
“Eva-Impact” is an humanoid thoroughbred developed by JRA and Nerv as the “Final Battle Weapon Type Horse.” Eva-Impact was born from the combination of Nerv technology and DNA extracted from legendary horses with a 150-year lineage. The fall of the Spear of Longinus triggered the development of this weapon.
What’s worse is that apparently these two ads aren’t even the first time they’ve done an Evangelion Horse Racing tie-in, apparently they did it before during the summer too. Part of me is like, “Well, why not? Whatever pays the bills”, while the other part of me is like “This is a terrible idea, and whoever came up with the idea should be whipped repeatedly with wet beach towels”. I think this is even worse than the Evangelion Schick shaving tie-in…
